About James
[ My Story ]
In 2020, I was coming off a failed business venture (by my standards at the time). I was one year out of college, bummed that the business didn't pan out. I took a healthcare IT job and moved my family to Texas. That job was an unbelievable opportunity.
But in spring 2022, I hit a mental wall. It felt like I was running in place. I was 15+ years away from where I wanted to be in my career, and I didn't seem to have much control over whether I'd even get there. To top it off, I had a 2-year-old daughter and a baby on the way that I wanted to spend more time with.
I decided I needed to do something different before it was too late — something to regain control over my time, my outcomes, and my life. So I moved my family across the country and started an MBA program with one goal: to work for myself. There were people I knew, and even more I saw online, who seemed to be living life on their own terms. If they could do it, I had to be able to.
I just needed to own something. Through much of my program, I thought that meant buying a business — my first attempt at starting one had gone so poorly. But halfway through my first year, I started a marketing agency to keep my family out of debt.
Fast-forward 14 months. I graduated with my MBA and a business doing $40k/mo in recurring revenue. Today, we're around $58k/mo — and I'm no longer searching for a business to buy. I'm able to work when I want, from where I want, and design my life and work around my priorities: family & faith.
The point is: entrepreneurship changed my life. It wasn't without risk. It wasn't without hard work. And in many ways, I feel like I got lucky. But anybody can do this. If you're unfulfilled or want something more from your work days, take a minute to think about what you can do to change that. If I can do it, anybody can.

There's nothing more important in my life than family. Everything I do in business is meant to support the family life I strive to have.
